ABOUT:

As Director of Urban Planning at Urban Alchemy Collective, Paola Fernandez leads innovative projects that bridge design excellence with authentic community engagement. With over a decade of experience, she has guided efforts ranging from small-scale tactical interventions to comprehensive citywide plans, always centering the voices and needs of community members. Known for her collaborative and empathetic approach, Paola works to ensure that urban development is inclusive, resilient, and deeply rooted in place. 

Beyond her role at UAC, Paola is deeply engaged in civic and professional leadership. She serves as a board member of ActivateSA and the VIA Transit Community Council, and has held key roles including Co-Chair of the San Antonio Bond 2022–2027 Streets, Sidewalks and Bridges Committee, City’s Historic Design and Review Committee Mayoral Appointee, Co-Chair of ULI’s Mobility Local Member Council, Founding Board Member of NOMA Central Texas, Board Member of SaySí, and member of the City of San Antonio TOD Task Force. 

Paola’s work reflects her unwavering commitment to advancing inclusive, community-led planning and ensuring that cities evolve in ways that are equitable, connected, and resilient.
